Launceston has always had a strong tradition of drama and music. Since at least the 19th century there was a Launceston Dramatic and Music Society, which put on plays as well as musical productions and by 1905 there was a Launceston Choral Society. Little futher is unfortunately known about the Choral Society in this past format.

Launceston Choral Society was re-formed by its musical director, Veronica Jones, and her accompanist, Wendy Langley in 1989.

Veronica was succeeded as musical director by Doris Oldland, who had conducted several choirs in Essex and the home counties before moving to Cornwall. When she retired the society was fortunate to obtain the services of its present musical director Jonathan Mann GRSM FTCL FRSA and accompanist Liz Jones.

We are a choir of about 50 members and would welcome anyone- soprano, alto, tenor or bass. Please see our 'Joining Us' page for more information.
